Good pizza…

Pizza is one of my favorite things to eat…BUT it has to be good pizza.  Living in South Florida for the past 12 years and finding good pizza has been a challenge.  I guess you can say that I have been spoiled coming from New Jersey.

When I was growing up my family didn’t have a lot of money and I had to make a daily choice…a slice of the best pizza in the world (at least it was to me) or taking the bus home from school. The pizza often won and I got to burn the calories from walking home.

This morning as I was reflecting on what makes a pizza so good- I believe that it’s not only a good sauce but also the crust has to be excellent!

When you walk into a pizzeria you find the pizza-maker working the dough. He does this for a while to make sure that it’s in perfect condition for his pizza- you can say he takes his time. This got me thinking in what my prayers were to God lately….I want to grow more in you….I want to grow closer to you….I want to be used in your  kingdom…I want to serve your precious people…stretch me Lord

Wow, we actually ask to be stretched and then wonder why we are being pushed out of our comfort zone…

We wonder why things are getting uncomfortable. We often pray that desire to God BUT want Him to do it on our terms.  Not too much stretching Lord…just a little and only on “my time and terms”. What hypocrites we can be…yes I said hypocrites, because if we truly desire to Serve Him then it’s where we are needed and at His time- not ours!

I don’t know about you but I want to be “good pizza” for Him. I want to be the best that I can before His honor and glory. I want to work with my “pizza-maker” not against Him.

As you reflect today remember to Just Breathe!

Reflection Corner:

1) Is there something that you have been holding back on that you know would take you to the next level?

2) What are some steps you can take over the next 30 days to step out of your comfort zone?

3) Make a list of a few things that you would like to accomplish this year. Pray to God for guidance and clarity. You are not going to accomplish your goals if you don’t have any.

  1. I love your analogy with pizza and streching and getting out of our comfort zone. So true! Oh Lord, I pray…do it on Your terms, your way, your truth and through your light of the Word. Amen.

  2. Pizza, loved by most, is a good comparison for the stretching that takes place in our lives. I used to make my own pizza and learned how to make the dough – it was a lot of work to wait for the rise to happen and then form it, add the sauce, cheese and extras – just like our lives as we are sretched, pulled, etc. I have felt this way over the past two years and know this year will be no different. I’m holding on to my bearings in order to get through in tact. Thanks for the post!
